The SAEM takes its name from the Korean word 샘 (saem), meaning a spring or well. The brand launched in 2010 as a Hankook Cosmetics subsidiary and says it draws on more than 60 years of R&D expertise from its parent company. This Centella mask is one option in the Natural Mask Sheet range, which also includes Green Tea and Rice. The SAEM sells a separate Pure Natural Snail mask as well.

The SAEM Natural Centella Asiatica Sheet Mask is a 21ml Korean mask with a light, water-based essence. Centella asiatica extract, panthenol, trehalose and allantoin shape its moisture-focused formula, while the single-use format makes it easy to add to an evening routine.

Formula, explained

Centella extract is paired with madecassoside, asiaticoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid - the four centella triterpenes listed in the formula. Panthenol, trehalose and dipotassium glycyrrhizate support a comfortable finish. Tangerine peel, mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), rosemary, chamomile, juniper and lavender oils give the product its botanical scent. Anyone sensitive to essential oils should patch-test before use.

How to use

After cleansing and toner, apply one sheet and smooth it over the face. Leave on for 15–20 minutes, remove, then press in the remaining essence. Do not apply around the eyes or lips. Follow with moisturiser if needed.
